Go North Young Woman, Go North!

Relocating from West Africa back "home" to Colorado for a short spell has been replaced by a 1,100 mile (1,609 kilometer) trek to my new home in Winnipeg, Manitoba. It could have been like the covered wagons of the 1800s as they traversed transcontinental from civilization to the wild west.

With my favorite possessions tucked in every nook and cranny of my small, red Honda CRV, I headed for the north, frozen tundra of Canada.  Forget moving the seats back to get comfortable leg room! Knees tucked neatly against the dashboard worked just fine as I wasn't planning to throw any of these prize possessions on the side of the road as my predecessors two centuries before were compelled to do.

What has brought me from the beautiful mountains and clear blue sky of Colorado to the cold, gray (grey), city nicknamed "Winterpeg" with it's 20 hours of daylight (in the summer, anyway) and crater size pot-holed roads?  Why LOVE, of course! Love made me dizzy and I forgot my rational self. What need did I have of beautiful scenery, fresh, clean air, Rocky Mountain National Park and hot springs when I could have love?

Meeting my guy, named Guy was a virtual experience. We met on the Internet, just a few clicks, chats and webcams away yet two different countries apart.  After over two years of web cam dates, chats and an occasional cross-continental visit, and a long shared Mercy Ships experience in West Africa, we did the inevitable.  We tied the knot, marrying in lovely Colorado and immediately headed in the aforementioned Honda to my new home, his long-time home, north of where civilization ends.  Here we have set up home in our little apartment and the computer webcams are tucked away in a box.
